A missing hiker was reportedly found alive after her husband tragically died.
The missing 72-year-old’s discovery is called out as an absolute miracle that was all thanks to her dog who ensured she remained warm this whole time.
John Helmstadter who was 82 was traveling with his wife on a hike. They set out last week on Sunday with their two dogs by their side who followed them along the trails, right behind their property.
As per reports from NBC News, what began as a routine stroll ended up in absolute tragedy when the duo wandered off the trail.
This was the terrifying moment when her husband John fell and was not able to get back up on his two feet. Without any cell phones, they couldn’t call for help.
His wife Pamela feared for her life and thought it was the end for her two as cold temperatures made it so hard for her to bear.
But her dog did not leave her alone. He slept close to her on the chest, making sure she remained warm throughout the night. The search for the missing couple was launched after neighbors noticed that they had been missing for far too long.
The search included helicopters they managed to rescue her in a stable but hypothermic state. However, her husband was dead.
