A mother-of-two was struck by her ex-boyfriend’s pick-up truck in a row over the custody of their children.
34-year-old Emma Beaumont is a top wedding dress designer, who previously made a dress for Jamie Laing of Made in Chelsea, was reportedly collecting a pair of boots belonging to one of her kids from her ex-boyfriend Scott Purslow’s truck when the man drove away in fury and struck the woman with his car in the process.
“You need to grow up and let me see the kids,” Purslow told Beaumont during the escalation. “If you care to see the children you should pay for them,” she replied while picking up her child’s belongings from the car.
Angered by her response, Purslow screamed “you f***ing b****” before driving away and hitting Beaumont who was attempting to get back to the front door.
While the mother lost her balance, she was reportedly not injured in the incident.
Following the escalation, the woman called the police and her ex was charged with assault and careless driving. While the lesser charge was dropped, Purslow was found guilty of assault and ordered to pay $2,000 in fines on top of the court costs. He was also given a restraining order and banned from entering his ex’s street.
“The defendant attended the complainant’s address with the eldest child and he asked to come in to see the youngest child. But the complainant declined the request saying they had an agreement that he would not come into the house,” the prosecutors said.
“He threw the other child’s clothes in her face whilst the youngster went into the house. The defendant went off in his car but the complainant realized he still had the child’s trainers and wellies, and that the child needed them.

The prosecutors continued: “She replied, ‘If you care to see the children you should pay for them.’ but as she was removing the items, he said: ‘You f***ing b****’ or words to that effect. She got the bag, and turned towards the front door as the defendant was stationary in his car on her right hand side.
“She was about 20 meters away. As she walked towards her door she was parallel with the defendant’s car. She was hit by the car on the right side of her body and he braked. The car made contact and it made her lose her balance. She believed he had done it deliberately and went into the house and rang the police.”
Arguing that his truck was not used as a weapon, Purslow’s defense team suggested the man made a “stupid mistake” as he drove off in anger while insisting he never had the intention to hurt his ex-partner.
