A 50-year-old mom from Utah is reportedly pregnant with her own grandchild.
According to local media reports, Chalise Smith says she offered to be a surrogate to assist her own daughter Kaitlyn in having a baby.
The 24-year-old daughter who lives in Austin, Texas is said to suffer from Sjogren Syndrome, and due to her medical condition, she has been having trouble with her fertility issues and can’t conceive a child.
Doctors revealed how her autoimmune disease reports show endometriosis and that makes pregnancy so much more difficult. Thankfully, she did manage to have one son before her issue began but now, her mother is stepping in as a surrogate.
“My disease attacks the healthy parts of my body and that includes the lining of my womb too. The lining begins to grow in other parts of my body like the ovaries and the fallopian tubes”- the 24-year-old began to explain her condition.
Kaitlyn says that years before getting diagnosed with her health condition, she was blessed with a baby boy through the process of IVF. But after finding out about her diagnosis, she was devastated as she always looked forward to having more children.
Chalise, who is Kaitlyn’s mom, already has eight children of her own. But if you think that would stop this ambitious mother from carrying her own grandchild, you’re sadly mistaken.
With the help of IVF technology, the 50-year-old mom is now pregnant with her daughter’s second child, who is all set to be delivered in the month of May.
Kaitlyn says that she and her husband made the decision to have their embryos stored via IVF, hoping Kaitlyn would be able to carry her second child via this technique. But since that didn’t work out, her mother had one of the embryos implanted in her womb and is now excited to be carrying her grandchild.
