An American Airlines flight almost crashed into Hawaii’s mountain range yesterday.
According to reports from local media outlets, the plane escaped the mega tragedy when it was ordered to rapidly gain altitude by the control tower.
Flight 298 was bound for Los Angeles and it just took off from Honolulu at 12:30 am. On that note, things started to take a wrong turn when the pilot failed to make a right turn, leading the plane into some very dangerous territory of mountain peaks.
The air traffic controller was alert and therefore he ordered the crew to quickly expedite the climb or ascend at a fast speed to avoid danger as per one audio broadcast mentioned by the website LiveATC.
Number 298 turn right, was the bold call for the pilot and co-pilot who quickly acted to avoid the danger.
The dramatic elevation gain enabled the plane to reach the right height and stopped the plane from hitting the Ko’olau mountain range on the island of O’ahu as per official reports.
Aviation sources said that one deadly mistake by the pilot not making the assigned turn while departing from Honolulu International Airport could have cost them big time.
