Nick Cannon has shown off his brand-new tattoo dedicated to his late son Zen after the 5-month-old had passed away.
As the 41-year-old comedian and TV personality revealed on Nick Cannon Show on Tuesday, little Zen died from brain cancer on Sunday after his tumor began progressing at an alarming rate around Thanksgiving.
Following his painful announcement, Cannon also revealed he decided to return to work so soon after his son’s premature death because he sees it as “love” and not work.
Now, the grieving father also unveiled the brand-new tattoo he got inked on his ribs in little Zen’s honor.
“I got the opportunity to actually go and get a tattoo of my son Zen as angel on my rib. I’m still all bandaged up and it hurts, right here, right now,” Cannon told the audience.
“It was a lot of pain but it was so well worth it. I enjoyed every moment of the experience. To forever have my son, right here as my rib, right here at my side. That’s my angel.”
The comedian proceeded to show his New York audience a short clip showing the entire process, from the conception to the inking, behind the tattoo that depicts Zen as an angel with a halo hovering above his head.
The big reveal comes just days after Cannon broke into tears as he announced his son’s death to the public.
On the following day, he added: “I’m here to show that I can fight through this, I’m feeling it, I’m vulnerable, I’m open.
“I’m grieving. I feel guilty for so many levels. I never wanted to exploit this. I kept it private for so long since I found out about Zen’s diagnosis in respect to his mother Alyssa and to everyone in our family.”
Our thoughts are with Zen’s family as they grieve the passing of the little angel.
