Octavia Spencer was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The American actress and the winner of multiple awards broke into tears on December 8 as she was graced with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the presence of her fans, friends, and co-stars.
During the emotional ceremony, a man interrupted the proceedings by yelling it was a beautiful day to celebrate rich people to which the Spirited star responded by saying: “Not on my day, Satan!”
Running to Spencer’s aid was also her Spirited co-star and dear friend Will Ferrell who called to the heckler and made it clear his comments were not welcome.
“Message loud and clear … Not on Octavia’s day,” the legendary comedian told the heckler before urging him to “keep it moving” and visit the wax museum down the road instead.
Despite the heckler doing his best to ruin the show, Ferrell continued by paying Spencer a touching tribute that made the actress tear up.
“She makes everyone better. Between your sense of humor, your amazing laugh, your dedication to your craft — you are literally the best and no one is more, is more [deserving] of this star than you,” Ferrell told his co-star.
After the touching ceremony, Spencer admitted that her Hollywood Walk of Fame induction will represent one of the most special days in her life.
“What a day! Grateful does not begin to describe how I feel about this honor. Receiving my star will always be one of the most special moments in my life, and I have all of you to thank for this,” she wrote in her Instagram post.
She later also opened up about her friendship with Ferrell as she praised the actor for being one of the smartest people she’s ever worked with.
“I can tell you that Will is definitely not an adult elf,” she joked on People’s Every Day podcast.
“[He’s] one of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with.”
