The Oscars may be over but the controversies from one of the biggest awards show in the Hollywood industry continue.
Now, Mira Sorvino is blasting the Academy for opting to exclude her famous dad, the late Paul Sorvino. She says the mistake is highly offensive and the family deserves an apology for it.
The segment was introduced by actor John Travolta who really held back his tears while announcing those that were a part of this entire endeavor.
These were all the big names of the industry that we happened to lose in the past few years. They were celebrated names.
They included the likes of Olivia Newton-John and Lisa Marie Presley, among a long list of other leading celebrated names. But Mira Sorvino says seeing her father not be a part of the ordeal broke her heart into so many pieces.
She felt he really did deserve a lot more respect than just that. But she was not the only one. Viewers were quite upset too.
Sorvino passed away in July at the age of 83. His widow says the snub was clearly a decision that she hopes the Academy would regret as she and so many others did not see this one coming.
Meanwhile, it did not take Twitter much time at all to become abuzz with the news. Fans slammed the organizers for such a big mistake, calling the decision out as very hurtful and shocking. “We thought his face would have been in the slideshow for those who died last year, sadly we were mistaken”- another added.
Sorvino’s widow whose name is Dee Dee says that she expects the Academy to apologize soon And until now, she is yet to receive one.
“These things cannot be ignored and we just want to thank the fans for their support”- she explained.
