A woman was killed while one child was left with life threatening injuries after a giant tanker trunk ploughed through a kindergarten playground.
The horrifying incident took place at a playground located north-west of Melbourne.
The water tanker smashed right into the Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool at Riddells Creek at about 2:20 pm on Monday.
One boy was rushed to the Royal Children’s Hospital. He suffered from the most serious injuries that attacked his body’s upper part.
Another woman who worked with kids having special needs at the kindergarten passed away at the scene.
It’s believed that the 68-year-old driver suffered from a serious medical episode while he was behind the wheel.
He was rushed to a hospital for observation where he remained on Monday night.
The tanker reportedly hit a giant power pole on the Main Road before the trailer slammed into the playground and came to rest at the sand pit.
The company of the tanker involved broke its silence over Monday night’s incident to express the horror and offer serious condolences to all those affected by it.
The statement went on to read, ‘This is an incredibly distressing time period. Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone involved including the families and friends.’
