Paris Hilton has welcomed her first baby with her husband Carter Reum via a surrogate last month.
The 42-year-old heiress and media personality surprised the world as she shared new family photos weeks after the pair welcomed baby Phoenix into their family.
It has now been revealed that the socialite kept her journey to motherhood a secret not only from her fans but also from her closest family members.
As she explained on her iHeartRadio podcast ‘This Is Paris’, Paris and Carter kept “everything really private” and decided it would be best to wait until their baby had settled in their home before announcing his birth.
“Not even my mom, my sisters, my best friend knew until he was over a week old. It was really nice to have that with Carter, be our own journey together,” she said.
“I just feel like my life has been so public, and I’ve never really had anything be just mine.”
Paris went on to say the decision came as a result of her private life being “invaded” multiple times in the past. Agreeing with this approach was also her husband, who has another child with ex Laura Bellizzi, who has always “been a really private person” according to Paris.
“So when we were talking about it, I really felt that I wanted this journey to be for us only,” she added.
“Because we were so excited and wanted to tell our families, but we were just nervous because if you tell a person, then they tell someone, and all the sudden, it’s in TMZ or Page Six, and I’ve had enough of my life like that.
“So Carter and I literally made a pact together that we would not tell anyone, and no one knew until just recently.”
Congratulations to Paris and Carter!
