Chris Rock reportedly saved the Oscars by remaining calm, composed, and allowing the show to go on, confirms Oscars producer Will Packer.
Packer is now speaking out in relation to the aftermath that took place after the shocking slap fiasco between actor Will Smith and comedian Chris Rock.
He revealed how Will Smith’s meltdown had sucked the life and out of the room where the live broadcast event was being held.
In the same way, the Oscars producer revealed how Chris’s grace and aplomb are what allowed the producers of the show to carry on despite the violent incident.
When asked about whether or not Will Smith was requested to leave or not, he did mention how that was it was true that Smith was voluntarily asked to leave the show. However, he refused to go.
Moreover, it was also revealed how the officials of the Academy were prepared to remove the actor physically, but Will Packer was against that particular decision and continue to argue against it.
He continued by mentioning how Chris Rock was in fact the one who did not want him removed and was against it. “I was simply advocating about what Rock wanted at that moment in time and that was not to have him removed”- Packer continued.
Similarly, rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Police Department being on stand-by to arrest Smith were also confirmed as true by Packer who says they were ready to carry out the act but Rock had requested them not to.
Now, Will Smith and his team of lawyers are sending out in writing that justified the actor’s behavior and why he behaved the way he did, moments ahead of his upcoming case’s hearing.
