US President Donald Trump has been accused of breaking the dress code at the Pope’s funeral after he arrived wearing a blue suit and blue tie.
The event had signaled a strict dress code for all attendees as the Vatican had boldly dictated how men should wear a dark suit with a long black tie and a white shirt.
They also shared how shoes, long socks, and umbrellas needed to be black.
Ukraine’s leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, wore no tie, and Joe Biden chose to wear a blue tie, but his suit was black. All three were blasted online for breaking the dress code and showing disrespect at such a high-profile gathering because the majority of world leaders were dressed in the color black.
The President, who sat in the front row of hundreds of foreign dignitaries and royalty, donned a mid-blue attire, complete with a pin that showed off the American flag. He paired this with a shiny blue tie.
Usually, smart and dark outfits are worn to show signs of respect. It’s a practice that’s adopted by many of the gathered mourners, including Sir Keir Starmer. Meanwhile, Trump’s wife, who is Melania, was seen sitting beside her husband on her 55th birthday, and could be seen wearing a conservative black coat with a lace veil and gloves.
