The Pope is slamming the European Union for its attempts to impose ‘woke’ language rules while indirectly making attempts at banning Christmas.
According to local media reports, the EU was slammed after it reportedly suggested its staff to use the term ‘holiday period’ instead of Christmas. The news went viral after it was leaked through a memo.
Moreover, diplomats were also forced to withdraw the document, after a mega backlash took place, as confirmed by reports.
The 84-year-old Pope has gone on to accuse the EU of using ideological colonization on return from his recent tour of Greece.
Just last week, the EU was also accused of making blatant attempts of canceling Christmas, right after it told staff members to avoid using the term and replace it with holiday period instead because it felt the word could be offensive to non-Christians.
The rule was published a few months back as a component of their guide regarding inconclusive communication. Moreover, the details related to this were leaked and now the topic is being a trending hot subject for backlash across the board.
But that’s not the only suggestion that had plenty fuming as the book also made suggestions regarding the replacement of Christian names like Mary and John with some more international names like Malika and Julio, whenever they’re used as a part of generic examples.
In addition to that, the book advises against the use of the term man-made and replacing it with human-induced.
The fuming Pope is reported to have made the warning on his plane ride back to the Vatican, stating how the EU is a necessary body but it should stop stirring up all sorts of divisions among different member states.
“If they choose to take up the path of dividing countries, it could ultimately lead to the EU to fail,” the Pope sternly concluded.
