Fans have seen Prince Harry on the outside world not as a prince but as a sports fan at the 2022 Super Bowl.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle earlier this year announced their intention to renounce their senior working role within the Royal Family to pursue a more independent career in the public sphere while maintaining more control over their private lives.
The Queen granted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex permission to maintain their HRH styles but ordered the couple not to use their title and styles when conducting business.
Some members of the public have demanded Her Majesty strip a couple of the ducal titles, but expert Marlene Koenig pointed out Prince Harry may automatically no longer be known as the Duke of Sussex if he chose to apply for US citizenship.
A photo of Prince Harry wearing a baseball cap with a logo of the Super Bowl spreads rapidly on the social media world and fans are delighted about it, the fans suggested that he should become a US citizen.
The Duke of Sussex attended the big game in Inglewood, California, alongside his first cousin, Princess Eugenie. Prince Harry is a lifelong sports fan but this is his first Super Bowl. No words on whether he’s cheering for the Los Angeles Rams or the Cincinnati Bengals, but Meghan was born and raised in Los Angeles.
Princess Eugenie flew to California from her home in Windsor, England, where she lives with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their 1-year-old son, August, to join his close cousin watch the Super Bowl, the princess recently marked her son’s first birthday with a sweet Instagram post revealing his nickname.
While there’s a lot of critics saw Harry’s afternoon at the big game as “too Americanized” and a sign that the Duke of Sussex had been spending too much time in Montecito, many commenters on social media were delighted to see him at the Sofi Stadium.
Ms. Koenig, a royal expert, said: “He would have to, even though there is no law preventing him from still being called Prince Harry, but when you become a US citizen, you have to renounce any titles or allegiance.”
“But, for example, there are two Americans who are peers, one is the Earl of Wharncliffe and I’m sure he doesn’t use his title in everyday life, but I’m sure nothing is stopping him from using it. And there are at least two Americans who have inherited a baronetcy. You might not put that on your business card if you’re a carpenter but it’s not against the law,” she added.
Under the US Constitution roof, Article 1 clause, 8 states: “No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: and no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state”.
LA Rams posted a photo of Prince Harry Holding the gleaming trophy in the locker room after their match with the caption “Feelin’ like royalty” last Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
One commenter said: “He is living his best American life.” A second viewer wrote: “Harry is living his best life!!” gushed one fan.” A third one added “Look at our King. Love that LA life for him”.
Another penned: “Look at Prince Harry living his best American life.” Someone agreed to say: “Enjoying America’s most popular sporting event! I love this for him.”
Kerry Taylor Jones also commented: “Love this Princess Eugenie has always had her cousins back Prince Harry great bond!”.
Meghan was friendly with the Princess even before she had met Harry, as she revealed to Oprah Winfrey a year ago during the couple’s televised interview. Meghan said: “Eugenie and I had known each other before I had known Harry, so that was comfortable. Meghan told Oprah, adding that she and Harry were friends with Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank “as a couple.”
