The authorities have shared the most devastating update in the urgent search for the missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki.
She was said to be vacationing with her friends at a resort in the Dominican Republic in Punta Cana for spring break before she vanished on March 6 and was never seen again.
As per media outlet New York Post, she was seen around 5:50 am on the beach with a man who has now been identified as Joshua Steven Ribe, who was also a tourist from Iowa.
He explained to the cops how he passed out drunk on the beach and when he woke up, the 20-year-old was gone. Another report spoke about him saving her from a giant wave and preventing her from drowning, but that’s all that he remembers.
Ribe’s loved ones are speaking out in his defense, asking authorities to stop interrogating him as a suspect in the case when he is known to be the nicest and kindest person ever.
“He would never even hurt a fly”- his parents shared, but sources went on to mention that the authorities are not ruling out foul play in this missing case.
The reason why his stories are being looked upon with so much doubt is because he’s changed his stories at least three different times.
First he said that he became sick from the rough waves and asked if she was okay before heading back to shore. While in another account, he spoke about leaving the water feeling nauseous. Then he recalled seeing Konanki standing knee deep in the surf before he lost consciousness. In another version, he suggested seeing her walking on the shore before passing out. As per authorities, the likelihood of finding her alive is now very little.
