The world witnessed one of the most dramatic moments in the history of the Academy Awards recently as actor Will Smith punched Chris Rock during this year’s Oscars.
Smith was seen marching on stage and then appeared to slap comedian Chris Rock during the live television broadcast for the ceremony.
According to local media sources, Smith appeared enraged after Chris Rock made a joke pertaining to Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
It was complete silence at the event’s venue, which was the Dolby Theater as many celebs watched Smith yell twice at Rock to ‘keep his wife’s name out of his mouth’.
Rock apparently took a dig at Pinkett’s shaved head stating: “Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can’t wait to see it, all right?”
In the year 2018, Pinkett revealed her diagnosis with alopecia. This hair loss condition was a challenge that she struggled with over the years but found the courage to speak about it on Instagram as well as a number of other social media platforms.
After taking the open palm swing at Rock, the audience was stunned as the sound of the loud smack resonated in the theater.
Soon, Smith was observed walking back to his seat while shouting out loud to the comedian to leave his wife alone.
And that’s when Rock could be heard defending himself with “I was only trying to make a GI joke” and that’s when Will Smith yelled back at him for a second time.
A few seconds later, Rock yelled how this was the greatest night in the history of television, and then soon got back to his position as the presenter.
A short while later, Smith was called on stage to accept his Oscar for ‘Best Actor’ for the film ‘King William’ and that’s when the star tried to defend his violent behavior of assaulting Rock on stage by mentioning: “Love makes you do crazy things.”
Similarly, he was seen apologizing for the incident and hoped people would forgive him for his outrageous behavior.
