The Queen has reportedly delivered her most emotional Christmas message to date, leaving many viewers in tears.
According to local news outlets, the Queen took out the time to pay a very emotional tribute to her beloved husband Philip during her annual message for Christmas. And it was obvious that she did have trouble speaking as recalled his memories and how there was one familiar laugh missing in the Royal Palace.
The fulsome public tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh left many on the verge of tears as the 95-year-old monarch addressed the nation from her traditional spot, which is Windsor Castle’s drawing-room.
The Head of State could be seen donning a bright red attire that featured a sapphire brooch that she reportedly wore on her honeymoon trip with the Duke of Edinburgh in the year 1947.
In the same way, the monarch could be seen speaking very highly of both William and Kate as well as Charles and Camilla.
She thanked and congratulated them all on doing a wonderful job in terms of their role in climate activism.
But at the same time, many were quick to notice how both Prince Harry and Meghan had been snubbed from the speech as a whole. There was no reference by name or on the screen of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. At the same time, there was no reference of Andrew either and it appeared as if it was a tactical decision to avoid taking any of their names during the annual Christmas speech.
The Queen also shed light on how much she missed her husband’s mischievous and enquiring twinkle. “It was as bright at the end as it was when I first laid my eyes on him,” she added.
Despite being an immensely private woman, seeing the Queen touch about the tragic loss of her husband was definitely something many did not see coming.
