King Charles III was seen getting overcome by emotion during his mother’s funeral service.
Gathered at Westminster Abbey, Queen Elizabeth II’s children, grandchildren, and other members of the Royal Family came together to give the longest-reigning British monarch the sendoff she deserves.
Standing in front of their mother’s coffin were the Queen’s four children including Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Princess Anne, and King Charles who was consoled throughout the funeral service by Queen Consort Camilla.
In the front line were also Prince William, Kate, and their eldest children George and Charlotte.
During the touching ceremony, Charles was seen tearing up and becoming overcome with emotion as he bade his final farewell to his mother.
While his family members sang along as the national anthem played, King Charles remained silent while tightly gripping his ceremonial sword.
“The grief of this day – felt not only by the late Queen’s family but all round the nation, Commonwealth and world – arises from her abundant life and loving service, now gone from us,” the Archbishop of Canterbury said as he delivered his speech.
“We will all face the merciful judgement of God: we can all share the Queen’s hope which in life and death inspired her servant leadership.”
He added: “Service in life, hope in death. All who follow the Queen’s example, and inspiration of trust and faith in God, can with her say: ‘We will meet again.’”
Attending the funeral service at Westminster Abbey, where Queen Elizabeth II was married and crowned a monarch, were also some two thousand VIP guests including high-ranking politicians, celebrities, and extended family members.
The solemn funeral service took place following a procession during which the Queen’s oak coffin was carried from Westminster Hall where she was lying in state for several days.
Our thoughts are with the Queen’s mourners around the world.
