The late Queen would ‘excitedly’ take Prince Harry’s phone calls from the US but she eventually became ‘perplexed’ by the Duke of Sussex’s complaints.
According to journalist Richard Kay of the Daily Mail, the late monarch would happily take her grandson’s calls from overseas when Harry and Meghan first moved to the US after stepping down from their royal duties.
While there is no doubt that the beloved Queen and Harry had a ‘close bond, “the Queen’s staff have told me how, in the early days of Harry’s exile in America, the Queen would excitedly take his phone calls,” he said.
“Over time this changed and she later became perplexed by Harry’s complaints.”
This comes as the Sussexes are expected to return to the US to be reunited with their children Archie and Lilibet, who were left with Meghan’s mother Doria at their California home.
The Duke of Sussex was visibly emotional during the state funeral of his grandmother.
Harry and Meghan arrived at Westminster Abbey separately, with the Duchess of Sussex traveling with the Countess of Wessex, Princess of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, while the Duke of Sussex walked behind the coffin with his father King Charles and brother Prince William.
The couple reunited to take their seats, with many funeral guests and royal-wishers saying they saw the pair offering touching displays of support to each other during the emotional day.
Dressed in a black suit, Harry held Meghan’s hand as they comforted one another while leaving the hall.
“I love how Prince Harry always holds Meghan close,” one royal fan wrote on Twitter.
After the committal service, Harry was seen puffing out his cheeks as he and his wife got in a car to leave.
