The Queen would be overjoyed over the reunification between her grandsons and their wives, a British columnist pointed out.
Writing for The Mail on Sunday, Sarah Vine suggested that the late monarch must be smiling from above after seeing Prince Harry and Prince William reunite at Windsor Castle along with their wives Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
The reunification marks the first time since 2020 that the quarreling brothers and their respective partners gathered together for a public appearance.
“The Fab Four, back in all their glory. How sad, also, that it took such a tragic event as the death of her late Majesty to make it happen,” Vine wrote for the publication.
“If only they could have managed it during her lifetime. But no matter. Her Majesty was nothing if not a pragmatist: better late than never.”
The columnist went on to suggest that it would be a wonderful sighting to see the brothers’ children playing together and meeting their cousins in person for the first time.
She further insisted that King Charles, too, likely sees the reunion as a positive thing set in an otherwise bitter time.
Though Charles was arguably hurt the most by Prince Harry and Meghan’s bombshell allegations in the interview with Oprah, he never ceased to support the Montecito couple both in words and actions.
He even mentioned his youngest son in his first personal speech as king when he said: “Today, I also want to express my love for Harry and Meghan as they continue to build their lives overseas.”
Though the future remains shrouded in mystery, the recent reunification between Harry and William definitely represents the stepping stone needed to begin mending the rift between the royals and setting all differences aside.
“The resulting reunion will have gladdened the hearts of millions, especially those who have watched with mounting sadness the widening abyss between Harry and his family,” Vine wrote.
“It’s a pleasant stroll between Frogmore and Adelaide cottages on the Windsor estate. A few short steps for two couples – one giant leap for the Royal Family.”
The question, however, remains – Will the peace last?
