Prince William will celebrate a milestone birthday in June and Her Majesty is reportedly preparing a big party for her grandson.
Britain is set for a year full of royal celebrations as 2022 will see the Queen celebrate her Platinum Jubilee and the Duke of Cambridge will celebrate his 40th birthday.
His wife Kate Middleton, has celebrated her 40th birthday earlier this year and marked the significant birthday with a release of royal portraits.
Plans are already in place for the Queen’s milestone event, however, everyone’s wondering what’s in store for her grandson, and the second in line to the throne. The Duke of Cambridge’s birthday falls on June 21 and according to a royal expert, a joint celebration is in the line thanks to his thoughtful grandmother.
According to royal author Christopher Andersen, who wrote The Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry, and Meghan, the Queen may have something huge planned for her grandson’s birthday.
Mr. Andersen told US Weekly: “The Queen has a big thing planned for (William) and he is going to throw something as well.”
However, the author raised the concern plaguing everyone’s minds whether Covid will disturb events this summer saying “There will be big parties again if Covid allows anything like that to happen.”
Prince William was involved in a “low-key” party thrown for Kate’s 40th birthday on January 9. It was the job of Prince William, Princes George, Louis, and Princess Charlotte to pick their favorite birthday portraits of Kate to be released. And they chose well, as royal fans were delighted with the snaps.
The Palace released the stunning portraits, taken by Paolo Roversi, of the Duchess of Cambridge posing in London’s Kew Gardens and wearing a series of Alexander McQueen ball gowns.
Prince William will be sharing his birthday bash as the Cambridges are reportedly planning to host a joint 40th birthday party this summer at their Norfolk residence, Anmer Hall. Carole Middleton, Kate’s mom, is also an expert party planner so she’s sure to pull out all the stops.
Big changes are also on the horizon for the royal couple, who currently hold the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. When Prince Charles becomes King, he will pass on his title of Prince of Wales to William and Kate will become Princess of Wales, which belonged to the late Princess Diana.
A source told Sunday Times Magazine: “The Cambridges’ continue to make the Queen and the UK proud as many look up to them for comfort in the “future of the monarchy”.
On February 6, the Queen will become the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking a 70-year reign and a series of celebrations will take place throughout the year.
As with the Queen’s Golden and Diamond Jubilees, the first week in June has been chosen for the celebratory weekend, as summertime offers a better chance of good weather than February.
Beginning on June 2, events will include Trooping the Color, the lighting of Platinum Jubilee beacons, a service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Derby at Epsom Downs, a live concert called “Platinum Party at the Palace,” the Big Jubilee Lunch and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
