Rescuers are racing against time in Afghanistan after a 9-year-old boy was reportedly trapped down inside a deep well.

According to local media reports, the boy named Haider is beyond terrified after being wedged inside the giant well as rescuers put in dire efforts to reach him.

The horrifying incident has taken place in the village of Shokok which is present in the Afghan province of Zabul in Southern Afghanistan.

This operation comes just a few weeks after a similar incident had taken place in Morrocco and a young boy had been trapped in a similar manner. But despite the efforts put forward to dig him out, he tragically passed away after living underground for four whole days.

A recent video shared on social media featured officials from Afghanistan’s new Taliban government showing the young child named Haider being stuck inside.

The startling footage also showed how the young child was crying for hours, as locals and loved ones hope and pray for a miracle.

“Are you alright my son?”- screams the boy’s father in the video. “Please don’t cry and continue to talk with me”- the father yells again as he tries to give the young child courage.

The boy answers back to his dad by saying that he will continue talking.

This video footage was recently obtained by the rescuers who lowered a camera down into the well via a rope.

Authorities claim that the young child seemed to be trapped down the 33 ft deep well, adding how an ambulance with oxygen and necessary items was on standby.

Rescuers are trying their best to work fast to try and open a slit trench towards the surface, in an attempt to try and reach the area where the young child appears to be trapped.
