At least 30 bodies were pulled out from the Potomac River after a terrifying and tragic incident arose where an American Airlines passenger plane collided with a Black Hawk helicopter.
Authorities are yet to speak about any survivors in the tragedy, including those aboard the military craft. Haunting audio from the incident made it clear that the helicopter failed to follow instructions and came from behind the jet instead of moving at full speed, head-on.
The plane was said to be following the right course of path and approaching the runway as instructed by the control tower.
It’s not clear why the helicopter failed to see the giant plane in front of it, despite weather conditions being crystal clear and all lights on the plane being operational.
The chopper was said to be on military training exercise on per usual basis but why it chose to fly directly into the path is a major question on the minds of many families of victims aboard the plane.
Witnesses spoke about hearing a loud crash between a giant fireball exploded and debris plunged into the river. One point was deemed as the causality collection point where most of the remains of the jet and helicopter were located. Fears grow that there might not be any more survivors due to the freezing temperatures.
