Arizona State University students have staged a rally to get Kyle Rittenhouse, who they call a “racist murderer”, off their campus.
Students of Arizona State University are campaigning to get Kyle Rittenhouse kicked out of his studies, students of the said university are calling him “Racist Murderer”.
Despite Rittenhouse being acquitted of killing two men and injuring another he still attended the Black Lives Matter protest in Kenosha on August 25, 2020.
Student for Socialism has called for his removal from the campus. Taking to Twitter the students set out a series of demands for the university to meet, calling the not-guilty verdict a result of a “flawed justice system,” they also branded the 18-year-old a “violent blood-thirsty murderer.”
The Twitter group, listed as a “socialist revolutionary Marxist club”, encouraged followers to attend a sign-making event in the Mecha Room (MU080) Monday, November 29 at 6 pm in preparation for a “rally” on December 1, at 3:30 pm at the Nelson Fine Arts Center Courtyard.
The protest is also backed by Students for Justice in Palestine, the Multicultural Solidarity Coalition, and the Mexican-American student group MEChA de ASU.
The group demands to release a statement against white supremacy and racist murderer Rittenhouse, reaffirm support for the multicultural center on campus as a space safe from white supremacy, and redirect funding from ASU PD to support the multicultural center and the establishment of a CAARE center on campus.
The group stated that: “Even with a not-guilty verdict from a flawed justice system, Rittenhouse was still guilty to his victims and the families of the victims.”
“KILLER OFF CAMPUS,” reads the flyer, calling for the university to protect students from a “violent, bloodthirsty murderer.”
On Fox News, a spokesperson for ASU’s said that they do not feel safe with a “Mass Shooter” being “so carelessly allowed” at the school, even if he appears to be just online.
He said: “Rittenhouse took the lives of innocent people with the intent to do so – by strapping an assault rifle to himself in a crowd of unarmed citizens, that is the textbook definition of intention”.
“The decision made by the court is one of the thousands of cases that have been influenced by biased judges, predominantly white juries, and mistakes inherent in a judicial system founded off of injustice, to begin with,” he added.
Kyle Rittenhouse has insisted that his case “had nothing to do with race” but only “with the right to self-defense.” He added that the three men he shot were all white.
Rittenhouse also threatened legal actions against those still making such accusations against his name and has insisted President Joe Biden, who dubbed the teen a white supremacist, defamed him with “actual malice.”
As a result of the verdict, several riots erupted around the country and Rittenhouse has faced backlash from not only his university peers but Qanoon followers, for describing their views as “complete insanity”.
Rittenhouse also added that he wanted to study either nursing or law at AUS, hoping to keep a low profile.
Arizona State University did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
