BREAKING: Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter Is In Hospice Care


Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter is reportedly in hospice care at her home in Plains, Georgia.

The 96-year-old American writer and activist, who served as the First Lady from 1977 to 1981, has entered her final chapter of life, her family confirmed on Friday.

According to the family, Rosalynn and her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, are now “spending time together” and preparing for the inevitable.

It was also revealed that the former First Lady has already been in hospice care for several months.

“The Carter family continues to ask for privacy and remains grateful for the outpouring of love and support,” their statement read.

Rosalynn and Jimmy remain the longest-married couple in the history of US presidents and first ladies. Back in July this year, the couple celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary.

The pair first became an item in 1945 after Carter managed to get a kiss from Rosalynn during their first time which came at the time the former president was attending the United States Naval Academy.

A year later, the couple got married. They have since welcomed four children as well as 21 grandkids and great-grandkids.

“The best thing I ever did was marrying Rosalynn. That’s the pinnacle of my life,” Carter previously said.

Recalling the time he was first smitten by his future wife, the former president told authors Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue that he just felt compatible with Rosalynn from the start.

“I just felt compatible with her. She was beautiful and innocent, and there was a resonance. We rode in the rumble seat of a Ford pickup — Ruth and her boyfriend in the front — and I kissed her on that first date. I remember that vividly,” he added.
