Russian forces may only be able to fight for another ’10 to 14’ days, said UK defense sources, adding that Vladimir Putin’s troops will then struggle to hold the ground that they have taken over.
According to UK defense sources, Ukraine has Russia ‘on the run’ and Putin’s troops could be only two weeks from ‘culmination point,’ after which ‘the strength of Ukraine’s resistance should become greater than Russia’s attacking force.’
Russia’s advances have stopped as its manpower runs short, reports say.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was also optimistic when he addressed his people, saying his troops continue to inflict ‘devastating losses on Russian troops.’
“Soon the number of downed helicopters of Russia will reach hundreds of units. They have already lost 80 warplanes. Hundreds of tanks and thousands of other units of equipment,” he said.
“In 19 days, the Russian army has lost more in Ukraine than in two bloody and years-long wars in Chechnya.”
However, reports say that Russia’s methods are becoming more brutal, with towns and cities coming under indiscriminate rocket fire.
Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, suffered more bombing on Tuesday morning. The military said four Russian helicopters, a cruise missile, and a jet were shot down by its troops which remained control in major cities.
Putin’s close allies admitted that things were not going according to plan.
Russian National Guard chief Viktor Zolorov said on Tuesday that “not everything is going as fast as we would like.”
However, he insisted that Russia would manage to win “step by step.”
US defense sources said last night that there was “an increasing amount of long range fires (air strikes)” targeting Ukraine capital and other major cities.
“They are continuing the bombardment and increasing that, no doubt about that,” a Pentagon spokesperson said.
