Award-winning actor and matinee icon Ryan O’Neal has passed away at the age of 82.
The legendary actor, who was best known for his roles on Paper Moon, Love Story, and Barry Lyndon, died “peacefully” just weeks after he was pictured looking frail in his wheelchair.
The tragic news was announced by the actor’s son, Patrick, on Friday afternoon.
“So this is the toughest thing I’ve ever had to say but here we go. My dad passed away peacefully today, with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us,” the grieving son wrote in his post.
“This is very difficult for my wife Summer and I, but I will share some feelings to give you an idea of how great a man he is. My father Ryan O’Neal has always been my hero. I looked up to him and he was always bigger than life.”
Patrick went on to recall his father’s achievements in the industry including his roles in classics such as What’s Up, Doc?, Paper Moon, Barry Lyndon, A Bridge Too Far, The Main Event, and The Driver.
“He is a Hollywood legend. Full stop. The growth spurt of the first name Ryan can be traced back to my dad. That’s a fact,” the son added.
In another post, Patrick branded his father not only as an accomplished actor but also as a “highly intelligent” and “charming” man who was an avid reader.
He further explained that though O’Neal felt proud about his career, he always remained humble and treated everyone on the set with respect.
“As a human being, my father was as generous as they come.point 305 |
