The news comes as the leading media outlet was slammed for requesting family members of staffers to come forward and help in saving Christmas.

In case you didn’t know, the news comes at a time when members of the CWU union comprising nearly 115,000 postal workers were seen taking national strike action amid calls for better pay.

This action lasted a mere 48 hours and it began on Wednesday, 14th of December. It further went on to last for two days and is all set to start on Friday, December 23.

This literally meant the festive season has turned out to be an absolute disaster for those individuals and businesses who wish to attain parcels, gifts, and more on time.

While it’s no surprise that we’re seeing the Royal Mail embark on a unique tradition that entails hiring seasonal employees, this national postal service was definitely short-staffed to a whole new level. And it’s undoubtedly the busiest time of this year.

But a recent memo has gone viral that speaks about the firm asking staff members to bring both friends and loved ones along for assistance.

They feel this is the best way forward to help during this desperate time.

“Good evening all of you out there. We have just eight more chances to delight customers and save their Christmas”- it continued.

It asked if anyone knew of any friends and family members that would adore coming forward and helping them out, they would be more than happy. Hence, they were asked to speak to line managers that would be able to gain all the necessary details out there.

The union has gone ahead to describe it as the desperation of the next level from Royal Mail and seeing relatives of employees being brought in to clear this backlog is a little shocking.
