The beloved TV series Yellowstone is “coming to an end” amid alleged disputes between the showrunner and the main star, sources say.
According to several sources who spoke to the New York Post earlier this week, the blockbuster series by Paramount Network is set to end for good after the second half of the fifth season.
The rumors come amid claims of a dispute between the show’s main star, Kevin Costner, and the showrunner and creator Taylor Sheridan.
Costner, who plays the Montana patriarch John Dutton in the TV drama, earlier this year won a Golden Globe Award for his role in the series.
“It’s the same as with any showrunner and big star — there’s respect, but there’s friction,” one insider with knowledge of the show’s production told the publication.
Another source who previously worked with Sheridan insisted that ego might be playing a role in the dispute between the producer and the actor.
“Taylor is the star of his show. He’s the most important person on all of his shows,” the insider said.
While the show is set to come to an end after Season 5 according to numerous sources, it remains unclear when the second half of the fifth season will be released since the production hasn’t even been slated yet.
“We’re hoping it will be worked out. It’s too big a show for things not to be worked out,” a production insider said about the uncertainty surrounding the second half of Season 5.
“Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes, if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season.”
