Shocking reports are coming in about the way Ukrainian refugees are being treated by other countries.
Just last week, Poland was slammed after security guards on the border prevented a group of Nigerian refugees from Ukraine from entering the country. That forced the young students to withstand harsh weather conditions as they begged and pleaded for entry.
Now, reports about Black Ukrainian refugees being treated differently due to their skin color in France are taking center stage.
The news comes after a young man named Uwandu Michael shed light upon how shocked he became after realizing that he was placed in a hotel that was nearly 70 miles away from all the others.
Moreover, the 37-year-old revealed how he was indeed a citizen of Ukraine but didn’t have any passport yet.
Uwandu and his five friends who were all Blacks were then taken to Boulogne instead of the main hotel where other refugees were reportedly kept, which was specified as Lille.
Lille is also where a Home Office visa center has also been set up, explained sources.
“I hope to join my family soon in the United Kindom but after arriving in France, I’ve noticed how differently I’m being treated because I am a Black. I was split up from my group of other Ukrainian refugees in France,”- he went on to continue.
Originally from Nigeria, Uwandu says that the entire incident has really appalled him for obvious reasons. Seeing racism across the border during the times of war was definitely a major eye-opener for him.
” I was given Ukrainian citizenship last month but I was left with no option but to flee, right before I could collect my passport. Little did I know about the fate that was in store for me”- he continued.
