Former US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden were seen arriving at Saint Peter’s Square in Vatican City on Saturday morning for Pope Francis’ funeral.
The 82-year-old who met with Francis three times as vice president held onto his wife and a priest as he carefully walked down the stairs.
The Bidens were seen seated nowhere near Donald Trump and his wife, Melania. But that does make sense as they are no longer head of state, experts shared.
But the concerning part is how Biden felt it was okay to smile and click selfies with other mourners gathered at the event.
The former US President was seen clicking selfies with another mourner before the funeral service started at 10 am.
The former commander in chief paid tribute to Francis after his death on Monday. ‘He was unlike any who came before him’- one shared. Other leaders were similarly positioned for clicking images of the Pope’s coffin, especially those seated in the second and third rows, including the President of Switzerland.
The overall consensus was that people should know better, and Biden, being the former US president, had many expecting so much more in terms of courtesy and protocol.
