Shannen Doherty has opened up about her battle with stage four breast cancer and said “hope is always there” after finally receiving some good news.
The 52-year-old actress, who is best known for her role in Beverly Hills, 90210, previously revealed she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.
Now, after her years-long health battle, Doherty finally received a glimpse of hope after her new treatment showed some promising results.
“I’m not gonna say what it is, I’m on a new cancer infusion and after four treatments, we didn’t really see a difference and everybody wanted me to switch, and I just kinda was like, ‘We’re gonna keep going with this and see,’” she said during her Let’s Be Clear podcast appearance on Monday.
Speaking to radiation oncologist Dr. Amin Mirhadi, she added: “And yeah, after the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier.”
The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum went on to call the progress a miracle before saying the results motivated her to keep on going and not give up.
“I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not done,” the actress said as she credited God for “intervening” and giving her a break from bad news.
“When you ask yourself, ‘Why me? Why did I get cancer?’ and then ‘Why did my cancer come back? Why am I stage 4?’ that leads you to look for the bigger purpose in life. We’re vibrant, and we have such a different outlook on life. We are people who want to work and embrace life and keep moving forward.”
