A new report is speaking about the harrowing ordeal that recently took place at sea involving the giant cruise ship Spirit of Discovery.
According to reports from local media outlets, it arose when a devastating weather condition led to tragic consequences in the end.
As reported by media outlet BBC News, the tragedy caused one person’s death while hundreds of others on board were said to be injured.
The ship was struck while transversing the Bay of Biscay and thanks to the massive winds, things went from bad to worse immediately.
The storm continued to worsen and the decision was finally made to head towards the United Kingdom, earlier than many had anticipated.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch then rolled out an interim report that detailed the severe accidents that unfolded during that storm.
The ship has nearly 943 passengers aboard and 503 crew members. They all suffered from the impact of critical propulsion failure. Such a mechanical breakdown resulted in the vessel moving erratically.
As mentioned by media outlet The Sun, the Saga-operated vessel was hit by massive 30-foot high waves, and the cruise liner ended up suffering from both internal and external damage due to that.
