American actor and stand-up comedian Sinbad is reportedly still learning how to walk following years after he suffered a stroke.
Back in 2020, the 66-year-old entertainer experienced a stroke as a result of his blood clot moving from the heart to his brain.
The stroke greatly affected the comedian’s physical abilities and his fans have since been eagerly waiting for updates about his condition.
Now, Sinbad’s family shared mixed news as they thanked their supporters for the love and positive wishes.
“Sinbad appreciates all the love and support you have shown him over the last two years,” they wrote as they shared a picture showing the comedian using a walker while learning how to walk.
“Many of you have asked for updates and if there is anything Sinbad needs or what you can do to help. As a result, the family has created a site where you can keep up to date with his progress and also provide an avenue for those who wish to give.”
The update comes after Sinbad’s family revealed that the 66-year-old suffered a stroke after not one but two blood clots formed in his body.
“After surgery, Sinbad was talking and moving with some weakness, but the prognosis was very promising. The next day, however, another blood clot formed, half the size of the first,” they explained on their new page.
“He underwent the same surgery again successfully but it took a little more from him than the first surgery. He was transferred to Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where the doctors indicated that his brain had begun to swell.”
During a procedure to “relieve the pressure and reduce swelling,” a bleed was discovered and the comedian had to be placed into a coma.
Despite being left with just a 30% chance of survival, Sinbad pulled through and set off on a long journey to recovery.
The comedian is best known for his comedy and his role in the movies Jingle All The Way and Good Burger.
He is also the star of TV shows The Sinbad Show and A Different World.
Our thoughts are with Sinbad and his family throughout his recovery.
