Climate change protests are sweeping across Europe where hundreds of eco-fanatics were seen blocking flights from Amsterdam recently.
Sources from local media outlets showed shocking images of people sitting on the runway, right in front of the wheels of mega-passenger planes. They feel this is their best attempt to raise awareness of the growing issue linked to climate change.
The news comes just a few weeks after headlines broke regarding environmental activists planning staged protests in various nations across Europe. This includes attacking leading art galleries and famous paintings produced by world-leading artists.
Similarly, they were seen attacking car dealerships and even went as far as gluing themselves inside the building.
The activists in Amsterdam were seen donning white-toned overalls and even stormed an area holding private jets at Schiphol Airport.
Meanwhile, military police were deployed to the scene after the shocking news broke out regarding the protest and the airport is under a huge threat. They stormed in and removed these individuals that were reportedly standing near private jets.
Dozens of the protesters were taken into police custody and were then seen being transported in huge buses as 100 were arrested.
The actions were stated to be a part of a planned protest organized by Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion at the air hub.
In a separate post, news broke out about two females getting glued to the frames of two paintings in the Prado Museum.
The demands of the activists were to reduce the number of flights and promote transport through trains, and then allow for a ban on unnecessary short-haul flights and private jets.
“We want fewer flights. The cost of polluting the environment has become too much. Something needs to be done before it’s too late and we’re going to do everything in our power to achieve just that!”- they went on to explain.
