Canada’s prime minister Mark Carney is opening up about a snap federal election that’s all set to take center stage on April 28.
He explained how the country requires a strong mandate to address Trump’s high tariffs that has led to an unprecedented trade war.
Speaking on Sunday in Ottawa, Carney explained how the elections were not due until October 20 but keeping in mind the actions of Donald Trump and his administration, it was time to buckle up.
‘We are facing the most serious crisis of our lifetimes because of Donald Trump’s unjustified trade actions and the growing threats to the country’s sovereignty’- he shared.
He also explained how America is keen on breaking the nation apart, just so they could get an excuse to own it. He vowed to ensure that nothing too drastic would happen and would do everything to protect his homeland.
Carney also shared how the governor general has expressed his decision for elections and that is none other than directives coming from King Charles.
During this month’s start, Trump gave Canada a huge shocker by slapping its steel and aluminum industry with tariffs as high as 25%. He also shared his desire to impose sweeping tariffs on all products from Canada beginning April 2.
