SNOW Settles Down On The Sand Of The Sahara Desert As Temperatures DROPPED Below Freezing


The Sahara Desert has recently witnessed a breakthrough snowfall and it’s causing a stir for obvious reasons.

Recently, temperatures dropped to minus and in single digits, something that has probably occurred rarely in 42 years.

The snowfall recently took place at the Saharan town called Ain Sefra which is located in Algeria. And that’s when startled locals tried to battle against the freezing cold of minus 2 degrees centigrade, considering the fact that this desert land sees temperatures going as high as 58 degrees.

For those who may not be aware, Ain Sefra is renowned as the Gateway to the Desert as it is reportedly situated around 3000 feet above the sea and is also surrounded by plenty of mountainous terrains.

In rare and shocking images, the sand dunes were seen covered in blankets of ice which is deemed to be the rarest occurrence to occur at the world’s largest desert.

The jaw-dropping images had been captured by renowned photographer Karim Bouchetata who showed the scattered lands with beautiful speckles of ice and snow all around yesterday.

But as we speak, the temperatures overnight are going as low as minus two and the ice is starting to create a stellar pattern in the sand, paving the way to another striking and gorgeous view that many can’t help but stare at for hours.

This dusting of snow is reported to be the fifth occurrence in nearly 42 years as previous events took place during the years 1979, 2016, 2018, and 2021.

The Sahara Desert is known to be an integral part of North Africa and has managed to go through shifts in temperature as well as moisture over a span that comprises just a few thousand years.
