The father who killed his own son by dangerously speeding on an uneven road has been spared jail.
According to reports from local media outlets, the dad’s jail sentence was reportedly suspended by the judge after his wife pleaded for his forgiveness, claiming he needed to care for his kids.
47-year-old Paul Vines was reportedly given a suspended sentence for causing the tragic death of his child.
Walking free from court, he and his wife were seen breaking down into tears as they began to explain how this has been a very difficult time for them, recalling their young son who was tragically killed at the hands of his own dad.
The father began to justify his behavior by claiming he did not see the warning signs that were put up in front of him. They were designed to inform him about how uneven and bumpy the road ahead was.
But due to his intense speed, he just continued to move on forward without giving them notice. And in the end, he was forced to deal with a tragedy that took away his son in an instant.
It was not long before the dad lost complete control of his vehicle. The car ended up falling into a giant ditch and the schoolboy was ejected out, slamming his head against the road.
He died instantly after suffering critical head injuries. Despite paramedics and rescue services rushing to the scene of the accident, they just could not save him. They tried to perform CPR on the roadside to revive him but it was in vain. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim’s mother broke down in tears as she urged the judge not to sentence her husband for the crime.
She said he had an entire family comprising of other young children to look after and he was her only hope.
