Terrifying reports are coming in at this moment in time regarding an earthquake striking the populated American city, New York City today.
The quake was said to be felt as far as Philadelphia and even ended up rattling New Jersey too. Many of those present inside buildings spoke about the ground shaking, leaving them with a sense of panic and fear all around.
The earthquake was similarly felt in places like Virginia too. The incident arose a little after 11 am on Friday as explained by the US Geological Survey.
For now, the New York Fire Department has yet to report any damage arising due to the incident as safety checks are being conducted throughout the popular metropolitan area.
Other details spoke about the quake’s epicenter being located near Readington in Hunterdon County in NJ as per the state’s governor Phil Murphy.
For now, all departures were grounded from the John F. Kennedy and Newark airports as social media users share more about the aftermath and what they experienced during the time of the calamity.
Meanwhile, some residents in Brooklyn spoke about how they heard a loud boom and their homes shaking as nervous neighbors made their way outside to determine what had just happened.
