Viewers were recently left confused when 14 pallbearers were seen struggling to carry Pope Francis’ coffin.
Eagled-eyed viewers found it bizarre when they saw them struggle so much, despite the fact that they were 14 in number.
The men wearing black suits carried the coffin out of St. Peter’s Basilica and onto the square as the service got underway earlier during the day.
People were quick to take to their accounts on X to speak about the grimacing faces, with some of them seeming to express how their job was a daunting and tiresome one.
Many were quick to share how it was challenging for them to hold that massive weight upon their shoulders. Another posted how 14 bearers shouldn’t be making such faces, considering how it was an honor to take part.
A second shared how when the weight was divided, it was nearly 3 stone per person, so why the struggle? The challenging part was certainly the stairs, which they had a hard time climbing while holding the coffin. ‘It’s shocking how they couldn’t handle the weight when we carry more than that daily’- another commented.
