A teenager based in Texas has reportedly passed away after suffering a miscarriage.
According to reports from local media outlets, the incident arose due to the state’s ban on abortion which prevented her from getting life-saving medical assistance while experiencing complications linked to the condition.
The incident sadly arose on the day of her baby shower where the victim identified as Neveah Crain woke up with a severe headache.
Shortly afterward, the teen who was six months into her pregnancy developed a fever. This was followed up closely with nausea and vomiting.
She did struggle throughout her baby shower event and by 3 pm, her family decided that she needed to be taken to the ER because things were getting out of hand real quick.
Crain’s lover Randall spoke about how he was the one who drove her to the nearby hospital and they waited for assistance in the waiting room for over four hours. Staff did provide her with a plastic pan where she continued to throw up during the waiting time.
After testing, she was diagnosed as having strep throat. She also spoke about pain in her abdominal region, in addition to the other side effects.
Her pregnancy was not evaluated during that period which was another red flag. Hence, after getting the prescription for antibiotics, she was discharged.
In the middle of the night, she again got up and complained of severe pain in her stomach and that’s when her lover took her to a different hospital for help.
She was showing signs related to a high fever with a very high pulse which was alarming and could be an indication of sepsis, the doctor alerted.
The incident went from bad to worse and she suffered a miscarriage and started to bleed heavily. But the doctors still couldn’t remove her fetus due to abortion laws, and that made matters worse. She died from septic shock soon after that, leaving a huge question mark on the state’s abortion laws.
