The ongoing tension and crisis surrounding the Russian and Ukrainian wars are intensifying as we speak.
Now, Russia has reportedly cut off all gas supply to Latvia, citing some very shocking reasons. These were linked to the country failing to make payments in Roubles, which is Russia’s national currency.
The news has struck panic across all of Europe as supplies to other top nations like Denmark, Finland, Poland, and the Netherlands were also seen coming to an absolute standstill.
Moreover, other reports spoke about such cities entering into a period of darkness to help conserve as much power as they could as testing times lay ahead of them.
So many nations are now joining the bandwagon and failing to pay Russia in its own rouble for gas as it’s a part of the ongoing EU sanctions.
But as you can expect, with an economy like Russia’s which is in the worse state imaginable, the news isn’t going well, and hence, that left Vladimir Putin with no choice but to strike a complete blowout of the gas deal with Latvia.
Putin’s shocking behavior that many are calling the weaponization of all gas supplies has led to the prices of gas commodities to increase to a severe extent, not to mention the growing energy panic taking place in Europe.
Russia’s state-owned gas company, Gazprom cut off the supplies today and confirmed the news with the release of a short statement in the public about its neighbor not following its directives and hence leaving it with no other choice but this.
“Latvia has broken the terms for the extraction of gas and that’s why there will be no more gas deliveries”- it revealed.
This past week, Russia was also seen reducing the levels of gas coming through the Nord Stream1 pipe, which is again concerning as its the most important source of gas entering Germany.
