Elon Musk is parting ways with Donald Trump on issues like high tariffs.
This is the latest sign by the billionaire that shows how he’s not keen on taking any more government-related responsibilities for the White House.
The president’s special adviser spoke during a political rally about how he hoped to see a zero-tariff situation between America and Europe to produce a free trade zone.
On Wednesday, he rolled out a controversial 20% tariff for the EU alongside a host of other high tariffs for international global trading partners, in what he referred to as Liberation Day.
But while the president was seen pushing US isolationism, Musk chose to put out a more collaborative approach on the whole matter.
‘I hope America and the EU can establish a close working partnership!’- the Tesla CEO mentioned during his virtual rally of Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini.
The SpaceX founder shared how he hoped to agree on Europe and the US moving ideally towards a zero-tariff situation, and that would give rise to a free trade zone between North America and Europe.
Earlier on Saturday, he shared how Musk seemed to distance himself even further from the tariffs plans while ripping up a leading Trump trade advisor in a very extraordinary outburst through X. The news comes just days after it was shared that he would step down from the new leading position of the Department of Government Efficiency DOGE.
