Taylor Swift has ranked number five on the Forbes list of the World’s Most Powerful Women of 2023.
The 33-year-old singer has set her personal record amid her very successful Eras Tour and her blazing romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
While she ranked #79 on the 2022 World’s Most Powerful Women list by Forbes, the Shake it Off hitmaker rose to fifth place this year thanks to her outstanding achievements in the entertainment business.
“With a record-breaking world tour, the ability to move economies and a $1.1 billion net worth, the 33-year-old entertainer ranks among the most influential women on the planet,” Forbes explained in a tribute to Swift after it was revealed she earned nearly $200 million, after tax, from the first leg of her Eras Tour.
Thanks to the sudden influx of income, Swift officially became a billionaire and has so far exceeded a net worth of $1.1 billion.
Taking over the first four places on the Forbes list were members of the politics & policy category including Ursula von der Leyen of Belgium, Christine Lagarde of Germany, Kamala Harris of the US, and Giorgia Meloni of Italy.
Following Swift on the list of most powerful women were four American ladies from the business and finance categories including Karen Lynch, Jane Fraser, Abigail Johnson, and Mary Barra. Ranking #10 on this year’s list was philanthropist and former multimedia product developer Melinda French Gates.
Speaking to Forbes of Swift’s success was labor economist and University of Chicago professor Carolyn Sloan who branded the singer as a “big corporation” that operates in many sectors.
“Her audience has skewed so young and so female for so long that people may have underestimated how big this thing could be, economically. I don’t think anybody doubts that today,” she added.
