Taylor Swift’s stalker has been arrested after allegedly trying to break into the singer’s apartment in Manhattan, New York City.
A man referred to by the police as David was apprehended by the NYPD outside the pop star’s home two times in the last week.
According to the reports, the man with unkempt hair first tried to break into the Bad Blood hitmaker’s NYC apartment on Saturday. He was then arrested for the second time on Monday after returning to the property and attempting to enter the building.
One local has since told The New York Post that the same man had been regularly visiting Swift’s home ever since Christmas. He was often seen chain-smoking at the doorstep and telling people passing by that he wanted to see the singer. At times, David also brought flowers for Taylor with him.
Last Saturday, the man was arrested after he was found peering into the home’s lobby. On Monday, he returned to the scene at around 3 pm but wasn’t arrested until 6 pm.
The police were allegedly able to nab the man and take him to custody over unanswered summons dating to 2017.
“I first saw him around 1 pm, he went up to Taylor’s door. I’m not sure if he knocked or rang the doorbell… it was all pretty civil. He didn’t resist. There was no yelling or anything,” a witness said.
It is unclear if Swift was at her NYC apartment at the time of the incident.
The singer previously opened up about her fear of stalkers saying she now carries first aid everywhere she goes.
“My fear of violence has continued into my personal life. I carry QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds… you get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things,” she said in 2021.
