A teacher and a coach in Houston Texas has suffered a broken arm after he was jumped by 4 middle school students.
Michael Schott, a physics teacher and a coach at Langham Creek High School in Houston Texas was chased and beaten during a baseball practice after he tried to discipline some middle schoolers.
On the KPRC report, 4 students from Aragon Middle School who were riding their dirt bikes on campus during the baseball practice are responsible for the attack.
Peggy, Schott’s mother, said that the attack happened after his son stopped one middle school student from riding his dirt bike on campus then the student left and came back with three other students.
Peggy said: “The reason it happened to him was because he was doing his job. He stopped the kids. Well, there was only one kid at first. The reason the others came back is because they didn’t like him stopping them.”
According to some students, the coach was responding to a bunch of the kids making noise on their dirt bikes. They chased down Schott, beat him up, and broke his arm, the incident was captured on a cell phone.
Alena Gonzales, the school sophomore student, told KPRC that the day the students jumped Schott, they got arrested and their older friends threatened to shoot up our school. Gonzales said: “We couldn’t walk around unless we had an ID badge, they wouldn’t even let us in.”
Logan Wisniewski, another sophomore, said: “They had to make an announcement because people kept going out of classes themselves. They had to make an announcement that teachers were not allowed to let students out of the class without a slip to go home.”
Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District confirmed that threats had been made against the school on social media and that security had to be beefed up as a result. They informed parents in a letter that four pupils from Aragon Middle School had been taken into custody, and would be disciplined.
Mark Henry, CyFair Independent School District superintendent, released a statement following the said incident. Henry said: “The recent safety violations that have occurred both on and off our campuses are extremely disappointing.”
“We will not tolerate anyone compromising the safe environment of our campuses, and will address violations to the greatest extent possible. I want to reassure you that we are taking these actions very seriously,” he added.
Four students involved in the attack were taken into custody and will be disciplined according to the code of conduct, district officials said in a letter to parents. It’s unclear if the juveniles will face charges for the beatdown.
A parent commented: “This is what happens at our school!!! We have a coach running for his life. This is disgusting.”
Meanwhile, Peggy told KTRK her son was recovering from a broken arm after the alleged assault. She said: “He’s doing fine. He’s at home. He has a broken arm, but the kids said that he’s doing what he’s always done and he’s fine.”
