A teacher is reportedly making the headlines after she was caught stalking students online, just so she could recruit them to LGBTQ clubs.
Now, the middle school teacher from California is facing a backlash as she admitted to the rumors of ‘totally stalking’ the kids.
According to local media reports, the teacher revealed how she engaged in the suspicious activity because she wanted to judge the students’ behavior online so she could identify which candidates belonged to the LGBTQ club and which did not.
Now, the teacher says that any or all of her comments that were made regarding the matter were done with her ‘tongue in cheek’, as revealed by a new report.
On the other hand, the Buena Vista Middle School teachers Lori Caldeira and Kelly Baraki spoke about how there was an ongoing controversy going on in the Spreckels School District Union, right after it was revealed how the students were placed in the respective club.
This was done during an LGBTQ conference that was held in October of this year.
“When we were busy doing the virtual learning, we totally stalked what they were doing on Google, and when they were not doing their homework,” the teacher revealed.
“One of the students happened to be googling the topic related to ‘trans day of visibility,” she revealed. “And that’s when we thought we are certainly going to invite that kid when we get to the campus,” she added.
But that news did not go down too well with many other members from the school’s administration who felt that was a violation of the school’s policy and the students’ privacy.
For this reason, the teacher and all those involved with her have been suspended for the ordeal.
