A hospital in Texas is under fire after parents slammed it with a mega lawsuit for accidentally giving him a vasectomy during surgery.
According to reports from local media outlets, the child was undergoing surgery to have his hernia treated. But along the way, he was also accidentally given a vasectomy while doctors were working in the same groin region during the procedure.
Before the surgery, the patient is believed to have entered the hospital with complaints of a huge swelling on the right side of his scrotum. And it was observed how it got worse during the evening time.
On that note, the doctor spoke about a procedure that would help to heal his inguinal repair as mentioned by ABC 13. But little did the parents realize that it would come with an added drawback of surgeons performing a vasectomy along the way.
The procedure was carried out at the Texas Children’s Hospital and it was scheduled for the 4th of August. But while everything seemed to be going down well, the doctors accidentally cut his vas deferens in an attempt to get rid of the hernia.
The Vas Deference is the name given to the anatomical structure of the body which holds the sperm out of the testes. Moreover, the parents revealed how the hospital tried to cover up the huge error by claiming that the patient might have reduced fertility as a part of the consequences of this procedure.
But little did anyone realize this would be the real reason behind the act.
The family’s attorney claims that the doctors surely gave apologies but they failed to accept complete accountability for the horrifying action. And now, the parents are left with the very difficult situation of explaining this to their son at the right age, the attorney further mentioned.
