The American House of Representatives just gave the green light to a new bill that would result in a countrywide ban across TikTok.
America has made it very clear that the app has been taking part in some shady activities including the sharing of American user data with officials from the Chinese Government. And that has to do with the fact that it’s under the ownership of ByteDance that’s based in China.
The government mentioned how there are more than 150 million users in the US that use the platform and therefore it serves as a serious security risk due to being under the ownership of the parent firm.
They also made it clear that to avoid such a ban, one thing could be done and that includes TikTok being sold off as a separate entity from ByteDance which does not seem to be happening anytime soon.
The news has been in the works for quite some time now and from the way things are picking up speed, we are just one step away from the Senate’s decision. If agree, the app that’s now walking on thin ice is sure to be eliminated from all App Stores across the country.
