New reports are sparking a major debate online as reports about Australia considering a possible ban on the popular short video app takes center stage.
Yes, that means TikTok could soon be removed from App Stores in Australia forever and Aussies aren’t happy.
Many adore the platform to such an extent that the app has managed to achieve massive success in such a short span of time. Moreover, the algorithms and layout have been at the center of inspiration for other leading tech companies like Meta who can’t stop copying all of TikTok’s offerings.
A report that was released last week showed how the app is in the middle of a major controversy. And that’s related to how the app manages to track taps across users’ devices.
For this reason, the opposition to Cybersecurity claims that the time has come for the app to be removed, once and for all for the country.
Before this report, we saw American lawmakers criticize TikTok when a new research report proved that US data belonging to users was being sent outside the country to China. While TikTok refuted the claims, it did decide to reallocate its servers to Oracle in the US.
Now, an opposition leader in Australia is agreeing with what the US has to say. According to him, a ban on the famous video app I definitely on the table, and the decision should be taken before it’s too late.
“We are a nation that takes cyber security very seriously. And we certainly don’t wish to wake up one day and have to worry about something like this. It’s just beyond absurd that our national security could be at risk,”- he continued.
