Ayaansh Kumar, 22-month-old, from New Jersey, accidentally ordered almost $2,000 worth of furniture from Walmart with his mom’s iPhone, and his family has continued to receive orders.

Pramod Kumar and his wife, Madhu, Ayaansh’s parents, told CNN that they were confused when they started receiving large boxes at their front door. Pramod told CNN: “My wife was thinking I did it, but I was thinking she did it.”

Madhu had been browsing Walmart’s website on her phone after the family recently moved to New Jersey. She put a whole load of furniture in her online shopping cart, with the intention of only buying a few things to decorate their new home.

Suddenly, packages of accent chairs, flower stands, and more started showing up, and neither Madhu, Pramod, or their two older kids knew who bought it. The packages came all week, and they realized their toddler had purchased them.

Madhu said: “The first person came with the box, and he put it next to the door.” She then recalled that the next order was then put on the first step of the house, and the process continued. “It was a queue,” she said about the packages.

It turns out that the clever toddler had been paying close attention to his parents and older siblings when shopping online and decided to have a go himself. Madhu said: “He’s so little, he’s so cute, we were laughing that he ordered all this stuff.”

But she’s not mad about all his purchases and has admitted that some of the items he bought were useful. She said: “It is really hard to believe that he has done this, but that’s what happened. I need one or two (items), why would we need four?”

Adding to the hilarity of the situation, Ayaansh ordered so many items that everything still hasn’t arrived. Pramod said: “We’re still getting the packages. We have a bunch of packages. Like today, there are two packages just sitting outside of our house. He’s totally clueless to what he did.”

Pramod also acknowledged that online shopping can be a somewhat thorough process, so he was “really surprised” that his son managed to submit the order by himself.

Pramod said: “If you go online shopping, it asks you multiple times about the items you need to select and you have to click here to be able to confirm and then reconfirm to make sure before ordering. So I was really surprised to see how he was able to complete the whole transaction.”

However, it was easier to place the order because all Madhu’s payment info was stored on her phone and after Ayaansh placed the order, it was too late to cancel according to an interview with News 12 New York.

Fortunately, the family has explained the entire situation to Walmart and the customer service helper found the situation funny. The family will be able to return anything they decide they don’t want and they will also get a full refund.

The Kumar’s are planning to wait until everything has been delivered before sending it back, and are thinking of keeping a couple of things as mementos of the time their youngest child racked up a shopping spree of almost $2,000 worth of furniture.

The parents seem to be good-humored about the whole thing with Madhu saying: “We are asking the same questions (to Ayaansh) again and again, “Oh, did you order that?”

Pramod added: “He’s totally clueless to what he did because nothing he ordered is of interest to him.”

Since Ayaansh’s online splurge, Madhu has vowed to introduce stricter controls on her phone. Dad Pramod said: “Moving forward, we will put tough passcodes or face recognition so when he picks up the phone he finds it in locked condition.”

Ayaansh’s parents told CNN that they have taken their debit card off their Walmart account so their son can’t accidentally spend any more money.
